If you've been stuck behind standing water this week, you're not alone. The National Weather Service in Miami said the highest rainfall totaled about 13 to 15 inches between Weston and Sunrise over four days. The rain was due to taper off Wednesday afternoon, with drier air and sunny skies Thursday through the weekend.

NBC 6 explained the culprit: an upper-level low over the eastern Gulf of Mexico pulled in tropical moisture, and slow storms kept "training" over the same neighborhoods. Some downpours hit 2 to 3 inches per hour. WPLG reported 6 to 10 inches overnight into Tuesday from Sunrise to Coral Springs.
